Tribal Experience of Panama City
Meet up with your local guide and begin the tour.
Visit the indigenous community of Emberá, Parara Puru, located at the end of the Chagres River.
Start with a 30-minute boat ride along the river by canoe.
Stop at the fall for those who want to swim.
Get greeted by women and children, who arrive dressed in their traditional outfits with brightly patterned skirts, music and ancestral dances. Your Panama guide will explain in detail their culture, their gastronomy and their particular language.
Enjoy a traditional meal and "Jagua" body painting.
Buy their crafts, which include small tagua animal figurines. The men of Embera make detailed sculptures in cocobolo wood, and the women weave beautiful baskets in palm fibres.
Appreciate the beautiful flora and fauna of the region and learn a little more about the community's lifestyle.
