Description
Travel to Namobuddha, a Newar town situated 40 km away from Kathmandu city. This place is an important Buddhist pilgrimage site due to the old Thrangu Tashi Yangtse Monastery located here, which tells the story of how Buddha had given his body to a starving tigress and her cubs. Discover Panauti town and explore the temples of Lord Budha.

Thrangu Tashi Yangtse Monastery, Panauti town & Namobuddha hike
We start our journey by driving to Kavre Bhanjyang, which takes about 3 hours on a narrow highway. The hike starts from Kavre Bhanjyang to Namobuddha, which takes about 2 hours to reach the top of the hill.
Along the walk, we will pass through local villages, viewing terraces and cattle.
Visit the Thrangu Tashi Yangtse Monastery and offer a butter candle at the top.
Have lunch at a local restaurant.
Continue walking to Panauti, which will take another 2 hours of easy walking following the local steps and villages. In Panauti, visit one of the old temples of Lord Shiva and a museum that represents the history, culture and tradition of Panauti town. This is a beautiful old town of the Newar people.
Take the ride back to Kathmandu (1 hour and 30 minutes) and get dropped off at your location.
