Description
Embark on a Himalayan flight, soaring above the majestic peaks to the land of Bhutan, and stroll through Paro, filled with colourful stalls brimming with fresh produce, aromatic spices, and intricate handicrafts. Visit Thimpu, the capital of Bhutan, where the wide streets lined by trees give you a relaxed feel. Go to the National Library, a treasure trove of Bhutanese literature, and the National Museum of Bhutan to learn about a collection of artefacts, artworks, and historical treasures.
Itinerary

Day 1: Paro to Thimphu (2300m) (L/D)
- Fly to Paro, Bhutan. Enjoy the scenic view of the Himalayan range.
- Arrive at Paro International Airport Bhutan, The land of the dragon, and your guide will greet you. To acclimatize your body with the altitude, you will be doing very light sightseeing.
- Be driven to Thimpu through Paro Valley.
- Do not miss out on the silvery Pa Chu (Paro River) meandering its way through the thickly forested ravine, the Paro Dzong (fortress) and Ta Dzong (watchtower).
- Go for an afternoon tour of Tashicho Dzong, a beautiful fortress and monastery. It houses the Secretariat building, King’s Throne room and other government offices. It is also the summer residence of the chief abbot or spiritual leader Je-Khenpo.
- Visit the Handicrafts Emporium to see or buy a wide assortment of beautifully hand-woven and crafted products, including the famous traditional thangka paintings.
- Move to the Memorial Chorten, a beautiful stupa built in memory of Bhutan’s third King. The paintings and statues inside the monument provide a deep insight into Buddhist philosophy.

Day 2: Thimphu Sightseeing (B/L/D
- Take a 15-minute guided walk to the Memorial Chorten early in the morning.
- Start your sightseeing by visiting the Zilukha Nunnery on the outskirts of Thimphu later in the day. 70 nuns live there and run their daily chores in the nunnery. It is a magnificent view from this nunnery.
- Visit the Changangkha Lhakhang.
- Head to the traditional paper factory, where you will learn how paper is done from the Daphne plant. The factory does produce a unique type of paper called rice paper; it is said to last longer than normal paper.
- Drive past Trashichhoedzong, the “fortress of the glorious religion,” in the evening.

Day 3: Thimphu – Paro (B,L,D)
- Drive west via Dochula Pass 3080 m to Paro after breakfast; weather permitting, you will enjoy the Bhutan Himalaya peaks above 7000 Mts.
- Visit Ta Dzong upon reaching Paro; once a watchtower built to defend Rinpung Dzong during inter-valley wars of the 17th century, Ta Dzong was inaugurated as Bhutan’s National Museum in 1968.
- Walk down a hillside trail to visit Rinpung Dzong.

Day 4: Drive to Paro airport for onward flight to Kathmandu (B)
- Drive to Paro Airport after an early breakfast at the hotel for your sensational take-off and scenic Himalayan flight past Chomolhari, Bhutan’s second-highest peak.
