Description
Get the feel of how people lived and survived in the arctic in earlier times, explore how we live and thrive today. Dive into our arctic history; listen to the stories of our arctic heroes and explorers. Discover how this cultural heritage still influences our culture and how we have incorporated it into our way of being. At the same time find out how our modern life is today and learn about our preferred leisure activities.
On this walking tour you will see the major sights in Tromsø's compact downtown and harbour area. We'll walk along the harbour, stroll through Tromsø's main street, Storgata and pass by our picturesque main squares. We will enjoy the mixture of traditional wooden architecture and modern design and I will show you many "northernmosts of the world". Let yourself be surprised by some of the local habits and join me to my "hidden gems".
Did you know Tromsø used to be called the Gateway to the Arctic? Find out more about our traditions with my explanations and stories in the Polar museum.
