Description
See the drop zones and battle sites of the 1st British Airborne Division during Operation Market Garden, which took place in September 1944. After nine days of ferocious battle, the British paratroopers failed to capture the bridges at Arnhem, allowing the German Waffen-SS to continue their V2 offensive to London and Belgium.

Arnhem war sites tour
- Visit the drop-landing zones of the airborne military forces that participated in Operation Market Garden 1944. It liberated part of the Southern part of Holland but failed in its objective to cut-off the Western part of Holland and its important harbours and V2 rocket firing bases.
- See the battle sites at Arnhem Road Bridge, Westerbouwing Height, The Perimeter at Oosterbeek, Bovenover/Onderlangs, the Ambush of the recce Squad near Wolfheze.
- Cross over the famous Arnhem bridge, where 81 British soldiers died defending it during this military operation.
- Get an overview of the failed Allied operation at the Oosterbeek Airborne Museum which , besides 'The Experience' , houses numerous artefacts, weapons, photos and films to provide a realistic picture of the Battle of Arnhem.
- Finish your visit at the Airborne Cemetery, paying homage to the British and Polish soldiers who were killed during this much discussed operation.
