Description
Explore Sossusvlei, a salt and clay ‘pan’ surrounded by five million-year-old dunes in the Namib Desert's southern part. Start from Windhoek, arrive at Sossusvlei to marvel at the wonderful Deadvlei and Dune 45. Also, visit the Sesriem Gate and Sesriem Canyon located in the deserts of Namib-Naukluft Park.
Itinerary

Day 1: Windhoek to Sesriem
- Meet with the tour guide at your accommodation or the airport in Windhoek and drive to Sesriem.
- Drive to the Spreetshoogte Pass, a mountain pass in central Namibia, connecting the Namib Desert with the Khomas Highland by traversing through the Great Escarpment, a geological feature of much of the southern part of the African continent.
- Make a quick stop at Solitaire for lunch. Solitaire merely consists of a filling station, a shop, a chapel and a bakery with a café. The café is well known for its apple cake, arguably “the best in the whole of Namibia”. A lodge and a campsite complete Solitaire.
- Arrive at the Lodge in Sesriem in the late afternoon.

Day 2: Sossusvlei
- Wake up early and drive to Sossusvlei, a salt and clay pan surrounded by high red dunes located in the southern part of the Namib Desert, in the Namib-Naukluft National Park. The name "Sossusvlei" is often used in an extended meaning to refer to the surrounding area, one of Namibia's major visitor attractions.
- Visit the Deadvlei, a white clay pan located near the more famous salt pan of Sossusvlei, inside the Namib-Naukluft Park in Namibia. Also written DeadVlei or Dead Vlei, its name means "dead marsh".
- Travel to Dune 45, a star dune in the Sossusvlei area of the Namib Desert in Namibia. Its name comes from the fact that it is at the 45th kilometre of the road that connects the Sesriem gate and Sossusvlei.
- Have lunch at a local restaurant in Sesriem Gate.
- Check out the Sesriem Canyon. The canyon's birth dates back to 2-4 million years when continental upheaval created most of the westward flowing rivers in the Namib Desert region.
- Drive back to the lodge and spend the rest of the evening at leisure.

- Have breakfast, then drive back to Windhoek.
- Arrive at Windhoek and depart for the hotel/ airport.
