Meet with the tour guide at the pickup location and travel to Mafalala Neighbourhood.
Learn about the region's rich cultural diversity that is home to numerous African ethnic groups and Christians and Muslims.
Visit a local primary school where you can interact with the kids and learn more about the social aspects of the community.
Attend a traditional dance composed of a group of women called 'Tufo da Mafalala': these ladies represent the Macua ethnic group from the Northern shores of Mozambique, most of which come from Ilha de Moçambique (a UNESCO World Heritage Site). Besides all of the literature and poetry, Mafalala is also famous for its musicians and contributes to the promotion, evolution, and styling of Marrabenta (the most popular musical genre of Mozambique) and its great sportsmen such as Eusebio da Silva Ferreira.
Visit the houses of the famous freedom fighters who lived in this neighbourhood, namely: Samora Machel (first President of Mozambique), Joaquim Chissano (second President of Mozambique), Pascoal Mocumbi (former Prime-Minister), José Craveirinha, and Noemia de Sousa (forefather of Mozambican poetry).
