Description
Set off from the colourful colonial city of San Cristobal through rural areas and traditional agricultural areas to surrounding indigenous towns. You will observe the traditional way of the Tsotzil Maya people, who still preserve their traditional clothes and agriculture work. Cycle through spectacular mountain landscapes, with a mix of little to no traffic streets of the city to natural paths and small trails. The clients get an individual fitting mountain bike and helmet with a water bottle. We will provide you with information about the basic use of a bike in both uphill and downhill cycling and positions while on the bike and breathing at high altitude. During the bike tour, stop to recover and get historical information about the people and areas we pass.
Itinerary

Meet the Maya communities
- 8 am: Meet at the office, where you get your mountain bike, helmet, and basic recommendations.
- 8.15 am: Start pedalling out of the city of San Cristóbal toward the Mayan Tzotzil coumunity of Carmen de Arcotete. We see a beautiful building of the 18 century, "La Quinta del Obispo", a catholic church used by the community to use their prehispanic religion.
- Take a short rest and keep going to the Arcotete. This is a small park with a river and a limestone bridge and caves. You can walk, take photos and enjoy nature.
- From there, go back in a long downhill, mostly paved road to San Cristóbal, where we return around 1 or 2 o'clock.
