The noble copal wood comes to life in the wise hands of the artisans of Tilcajete, who in the intricate shapes and designs of the polychrome alebrijes challenge the limits of imagination and creativity.

Itinerary

Day 1 : Archeological Site of Monte Alban + Santa María Atzompa Village
1.-Pick up at the Hotel or house
We drive for about 10 minute to go in one of the emblematic places to see a panoramic view of the City of Oaxaca, will be able to see the Monte Alban area an Oaxaca Capital.
2.- After that . We will drive 20 minutes far away from the city to arrive in one of the most important archeological site in the region of Oaxaca-Mexico.You will visit the arqueological site Monte Albán, which was the ancient capital of the Zapotec and one of the first cities of Mesoamerica. ( UNESCO Heritage Site)Located in the center of the Valley of Oaxaca, Monte Albán exercised political, economic, and ideological control over other communities in the valley and the surrounding mountains.
3.-Visit the village and the local ceramic market ,see the various glazed green clay products made by the pottery craftsmen of this community, which are emblematic of the beautiful ceramics of the central valleys of Oaxaca.
Witness the craft processes of great Oaxacan masters, who conserve and transmit techniques learned from generation to generation, and whose skill and talent have made the popular art of these localities in the Central Valleys. Visit a house where the locals work in the clay with ancients methods.

Day 2 : San Martin Tilcajete , Ocotlán ,Santa Catarina Minas
1.-The fabolous "alebrijes" of San Martín Tilcajete, carved in the noble wood of copal, born from the dreams and the vast imagination of artisains, whose hands give life to these fantastic and unique beings, full of color and incredible and fine details. Let the dreams, where these multicolored creatures born, also inspire in you the creative impulse, and in one of the many family workshops learn how they made the wood carving and decoration of the Alebrije .
2.- Ocotlan: The town’s most important tradition is one of the oldest and largest in the Central Valleys region of Oaxaca where you can find many products like: food, ceramics,etc. The municipal palace has a sober Neoclassic façade and in the interior there is a mural done by Rodolfo Morales a very well know local Artist in the region. The city’s main attraction is the Temple and Ex-convent of Santo Domingo de Guzmán. The complex was constructed in various stages between the 16th and 19th centuries.
3.- Mezcal Ancestral in Santa Catarina Minas: Here in this community , you will meet Palenqueros who continue to make mezcal with virtually no hint of modernity, maintaining as much tradition as possible. The end result, makes it all worthwhile. Santa Catarina Minas is in itself, an incomparable cultural legacy, a legacy of ancestral mezcal. Knowledge transmitted by generations. You will be able to see the process: ,Cooking, Milling ,Fermentation,Destillation, and obviously tasting diffents varieties of this magical drink.
In the same village you will be able to visit the local nursery unique in Mexico and here the person in charge of the place will show us different varieties of Agave Plants.
