Cycle the Mongolian Steppe to the Chinggis Khan Statue
Early in the morning, our guide and driver will pick you up from your location and drive 70 km east of Ulaanbaatar to the world's largest equestrian statue, a 40 m tall stainless-steel statue of mounted Genghis Khan. Upon entering the statue complex, there is a small museum, souvenir shop, and a lift that takes you to flights of stairs leading up to the top of the horse's head, allowing you to enjoy a panoramic view of the surrounding grasslands.
During your visit, our guide will assemble the bikes so we can start cycling. Although close to the capital of Mongolia, you will get a chance to cycle up and down hilly steppe dirt roads through vast valleys that stretch beyond the horizon, pass by animal herds, and visit modern nomadic families for a chance to experience their unique lifestyle.
The first 12 km will have ups and downs on small hills. Then, stop for a short tea break and continue cycling until lunch at the 26th km. We continue cycling gently, going down through a valley with animal herds and Mongolian felt homes called a ger; you may visit families and see how nomadic people are living nowadays.
At the 52nd km, our cycling trip will end at the top of a small hill that has an "ovoo" - a sacred stone heap built to worship deities of nature. From here, we assemble the bikes onto the support vehicle(s) and head towards Ulaanbaatar.
