Itinerary
-
Day 1: Ulaanbaatar
Meet your Mongolian guide at the international airport of Ulaanbaatar and transfer to your accommodation, located very close to the Parliament House and Chingis Khan Square.
After lunch, enjoy a leisurely afternoon sightseeing around Ulaanbaatar.
Visit the Gandan Monastery and the National History Museum.
In the evening, attend a welcome dinner at a restaurant.
Rest for the night at your accommodation.
-
Day 2: Gobi Gurvansaikhan National Park & Eagle's Valley
Start your day with an early breakfast.
Fly to Dalanzadgad, located at the centre of the South Gobi Province.
Make your way to Eagle's Valley, a deep and narrow gorge in the Gobi Gurvansaikhan National Park. Although this area is considered a hot and dry desert, Eagle's Valley is notable for a deep ice field that stays frozen round the year.
Hike through the valley. Keep an eye out for wild sheep and goat grazing on the cliff walls.
Rest overnight at your accommodation.
-
Day 3: Khongor Sand Dunes
Start your day with an early breakfast.
Make your way to the Khongor Sand Dunes. The sand dunes rise to a staggering 200 metres above the valley floor with razor-sharp edges and extend over an area between 2-20 km in width and 180 km in length. Before sunset, climb up to the highest dunes and see surrounding desert landscape.
Visit a herders' family and experience their nomadic lifestyle.
Ride a camel. The Mongolian camel is a Bactrian camel with two humps and is very comfortable to ride.
Stay at a traditional ger camp, feast on a Mongolian dinner and enjoy the sound of dunes as you rest for the night.
-
Day 4: Bayanzag Province
Start your day with an early breakfast
Drive to the Bayanzag Province. Bayanzag, also known as Flaming Cliffs, is where the first nest of dinosaur eggs were found in 1922 by an American expedition lead by Roy Chapman Andrews. The red coloured cliffs of the region are very imposing from a distance and are particularly fiery in the light of the setting sun.
Explore Bayanzag with your tour guide.
Return to the site just in time for dinner and rest overnight at the ger camp.
-
Day 5: Gorkhi-Terelj National Park
After breakfast, transfer to Gorkhi-Terelj National Park, located right in the middle of the Khentii Mountain Range.
Settle into your room at another ger tourist camp in Terelj.
After lunch, visit a local nomadic family and experience traditional dairy products and horse ride.
Visit Turtle Rock, an interesting natural rock formation.
Enjoy your family-style dinner served in the evening and rest overnight in a ger.
-
Day 6: Ulaanbaatar
Start the day early and begin your journey to Ulaanbaatar.
On the way visit the statue of Genghis Khan, currently the biggest equestrian statue in the world, and continue to Ulanbaatar.
After lunch at Ulaanbaatar, visit the Gobi cashmere factory store and antique shop.
Attend a traditional Mongolian folk art performance.
Enjoy a farewell dinner and rest at your Ulanbaatar hotel.
