Day 01

Shwedagon, Chaukhtatgyi and Yangon's Colonial Heart

  • Get picked up by your Yangon tour driver from the hotel at 8 am and head straight to Shwedagon Pagoda, one of the world's most spectacular religious monuments. The golden-domed pagoda is the place to observe local life and beliefs.
  • After that, proceed to Chaukhtatgyi Pagoda and witness the huge 72-metre reclining Buddha statue.
  • Stop at an authentic local restaurant for lunch. Then head to Bogyoke Market, also called Scott Market, where more than 2,000 shops offer some of Myanmar's largest selections of handicrafts and souvenirs.
  • In the evening, set out on a walking tour to the heart of the city and meet at the starting point beside the historic Sule Pagoda, in front of City Hall. Start walking from there to observe the impressive colonial buildings built in the late 19th and 20th centuries.
  • Then, meet at the endpoint, Nanthida Jetty on the Yangon riverside. If you want to enjoy the sunset by the riverside, visit Botahtaung Pagoda.
  • Head back to your hotel or accommodation at the end of the tour.
