Description
Amarapura, just outside of Mandalay, was once a royal capital of Myanmar. While it no longer holds that title, the area is still home to many attractions and sites. Mandalay, on the other hand, is Myanmar’s last royal capital. Located in the northern part of the country, it’s considered to be one of the main entry points to Myanmar. A crest of green hills studded with white and gold pagodas marks the 'skyline' of Saigang, a religious pilgrimage centre that resembles Bagan with elevation. This pretty friendly town is a major monastic center and a somewhat serene escape from Mandalay's constant hum. Come along to see Bagayar wooden, Me Nu Brick, and Mahagandayon monasteries in these Myanmar cities. Enjoy views of the Mahamuni Buddha at the Buddha temple, visit the Swan Oo Pon Nya Shin Pagoda and top this all off with gorgeous sunset views at U - Bein bridge.
