Itinerary
-
Day 1: Fez to Ifrane to Azrou to Midelt to Erfoud to Rissani to Merzouga to Erg Chebbi
Depart from Fez at 08:00 a.m through the Sahara.
Head towards Midelt through the Atlas mountains and the cedar forests of the middle Atlas.
Go by Ifrane, a magical ski vacation spot and Azrou; interesting craftwork specialized in cedarwood.
Reach Midelt and have lunch.
In the afternoon, be on the way to Erfoud and into the sand dunes.
Have a ride to the charming Erg Chebbi Sahara desert, where you will watch a magic sunset and spend the night in a traditional Berber tent or under the stars and enjoy Berber meals.
-
Day 2: Merzouga to Rissani to Todra Gorges to Tinghir to Dades Gorges
Next day, wake up for the amazing sunrise and have breakfast outdoors.
Come back by camels to the hotel for a shower.
Drive to Erfoud, which is known as “The Gate of Sahara Desert”, also known by its fossils.
Then, drive through the orchards of palm trees.
Pause a while for lunch, then make a short wandering inside Todra Gorges.
After a short walk, we head towards the last point, Dades Gorges, to spend the night in the hotel.
-
Day 3: Dades Gorges to Boulemane to Kelaa Mgouna to Skoura to Ouarzazate to Ait Benhaddou to Tizi-n-Tichka to Marrakech
After having breakfast, take a short walk within the Gorges.
Go via Dades valley to Kelaa Mgouna, which is known as the Valley of Roses.
Next pause will be in Ait Benhaddou village, which is a worthy detour for a tasty lunch and Kasbah stroll. Movie buffs will recognize this red mudbrick Kasbah 32 km from Ouarzazate from movies such as Lawrence of Arabia, Jesus of Nazareth (for which much of Ait Benhaddou was rebuilt), Jewel of the Nile and Gladiator.
On the way from Ait Benhaddou to Marrakech, pass the Tizi-n-Tichka col (2260m) and the High Atlas Mountains.
Arrive in Marrakech and get dropped off at your hotel or riad.
