8-Day Morocco Desert Tour from Casablanca to Rabat via Merzouga

• Get picked up at the airport and transfer to Marrakech.

Dinner and overnight in riad.

• Free day in Marrakech, a city famous for its Jemaa el Fna, which will occupy much of our time: an amalgam of aromas, sounds and sensations unique.

• The city also has plenty of places to enjoy: Gardens Majorelle, Menara, Tombs Saadianas, walks or the Mellah Medina (the Old Jewish Quarter), the route of the walls, the modern city (Gueliz) with Western lifestyles.

Dinner and hotel accommodation as selected category.

• Meeting at 8:00 a.m with your driver at your Riad/Hotel who will take you to the 4x4 and depart from Marrakech to Dades valley, through the Tizi-N-Tichka pass (2260m) in the High Atlas Mountains. From Marrakech to Ouarzazate, enjoy the scenic road, beautiful landscapes with different colours and the Berber villages along the way.

• Visit the old Kasbah of Ouarzazate “Taourirt Kasbah” and have lunch.

• Afterwards, go further south-east to the green Dades valley and the City of Roses via the fascinating Skoura Palmery.

Dinner and overnight in Dades Canyon.

• After breakfast, depart from your hotel in Dades valley at 8 a.m., taking the road of 1000 kasbahs to drive around the colourful Berber villages of the Dades valley. 45 km further, get to Tineghir with its beautiful palm grove and Jewish quarter.

• Continue to Toudgha Gorges, go on a trek along the canyons of about 300m high, a favourite place for rock climbers.

• Afterwards, leave to Erg Chebbi dunes in Merzouga Sahara Desert and have lunch on the way before arriving at Erfoud.

• Head for the Erg Chebbi sand dunes. After a welcoming glass of tea in a Guest House near the dunes, depart on the camels. Once at the bivouac, take a camel ride to watch the sunset from the top of the dunes.

Back at the Bivouac, dinner and overnight in tents in the desert (an unforgettable night).

• Wake up early to watch the spectacle of the sunrise, when the colour of the dunes and the play of shadows are an awesome sight.

• After breakfast, depart for Erfoud and stop to see how locally found fossils are worked into furniture and artifacts.

• From there, the road leads north to Er Rachidia, the province of all the south and the Ziz Valley, remarkable for the extent of its palm trees. Cross the Tizi-n-Talghoumt Pas.

• Lunch is in Midelt, “the apple capital”, then travel along a beautiful road bordered by green oaks and cedar trees to reach Azrou, where we can stop to hand feed the monkeys.

• Visit Switzerland of Morocco - Ifrane.

• Reach Fez at the end of the afternoon.

• Have a guided tour to discover the medina and the famous Souks of Fez - its narrow cobbled streets are filled with ancient mosques and towering green-glazed minarets.

• Visit the most beautiful palaces and monuments of Fez.

• The tour will include a visit to the tannery and the ceramics co-operative to see the traditional Moroccan crafts.

• Have breakfast and depart for Volubilis to visit the Roman ruins, the thermal baths of Gallien, the forum and the capitol.

• In Meknes, visit the Moulay Ismaïl Mausoleum, Bab Mansour, Bab Khdim.

• After lunch, depart for Rabat.

Dinner and accommodation in hotel.

• Transfer to the airport according to the flight time.
