Itinerary

1. Departure from Marrakech

   • Your adventure begins early in the morning as you depart the bustling city of Marrakech.
   • As the cityscape fades into the distance, you will be surrounded by the serene beauty of the Moroccan countryside. The journey to Imlil Valley is approximately two hours long, but the scenic route makes the time fly by.

2. First Stop: Panoramic View of Berber Villages

   • After about an hour of driving, we make our first stop at a panoramic viewpoint. This spot offers an open look over the Ghighaya Valley, where you can admire the authenticity and charm of traditional Berber villages. The sight of these ancient settlements, nestled among the rolling hills and lush greenery, is truly mesmerizing. This is an excellent opportunity to capture some stunning photographs to remember your trip.

3. Breakfast at a Local Women's Cooperative

   • Next, we continue our journey and stop at a local women's cooperative. Here, you will be treated to a delightful Moroccan breakfast, which includes mint tea, amlou (a traditional spread made from almonds, honey, and argan oil), honey butter, and local bread. This cooperative provides a delicious meal and supports the local community by empowering women. You will have a chance to learn about the production of argan oil and its significance in Moroccan culture. The cooperative also provides facilities for using the toilet before we resume our journey.

4. Asni Center and Surrounding Villages

   • As we drive further, we pass through numerous authentic Berber villages, each with its unique charm and character. The road to Asni Center is lined with traditional houses, terraced fields, and friendly locals going about their daily lives. Asni is a small town known for its vibrant weekly market, where locals gather to buy and sell goods.

5. Scenic Stop in the High Atlas Mountains

   • Approximately 30 minutes after passing Asni, we reach another high point offering a spectacular Imlil Valley view. This vantage point allows you to see the valley in all its glory, with its abundance of fruit trees and the imposing Atlas Mountains as a backdrop. The sight of the terraced fields, the flowing river, and the clusters of houses is a feast for the eyes and a great spot for more photos.

6. Arrival in Imlil

   • We arrive in the charming village of Imlil, the starting point for many trekking expeditions in the High Atlas Mountains.
   • Here, you will meet our experienced tour guide, who will lead you on an adventure through the valley. Imlil is a hub for outdoor enthusiasts and nature lovers, and it’s easy to see why with its breathtaking scenery and tranquil atmosphere.

7. Hiking Adventure in Imlil Valley

   With your guide, you will embark on a hiking expedition through the picturesque landscape of Imlil Valley. The hike suits all fitness levels, allowing everyone to enjoy the area's beauty comfortably.

8. Exploring Berber Villages

   • The trail winds through several traditional Berber villages, where you can observe the daily life of the local inhabitants. The Berbers, known for their hospitality and resilience, have lived in these mountains for centuries, preserving their customs and traditions.
   • As you walk through the villages, you will see stone houses and terraced fields and perhaps even encounter locals herding their livestock or tending to their crops.

9. Scenic Views and Natural Beauty

   • The hike continues through the valley, offering stunning views at every turn. You will pass by orchards, fields, and streams, all framed by the majestic peaks of the Atlas Mountains. The region's natural beauty is truly captivating, making this hike a memorable experience for all.

10. Lunch with a Local Family

    • One of the tour's highlights is lunch with a local Berber family. This is a unique opportunity to experience authentic Moroccan hospitality and cuisine. You will enjoy a homemade meal that might include traditional dishes such as tagine, couscous, fresh salads, and homemade bread. Sharing a meal with a local family provides a deeper understanding of their way of life and a chance to connect with them.

11. Return to Marrakech

    • After a fulfilling day of exploration and adventure, it’s time to head back to Marrakech.
    • We depart from Imlil around 4:30 PM, allowing us to reach Marrakech by approximately 6 PM.
    • As we drive back, you will have time to reflect on the day's incredible experiences and the beautiful sights you have seen.
