Description
Climb all the way up to Mount Mgoun, Morocco's 2nd highest mountain, considered to be a task on its own. Pass scintillating valleys of the Mgoun region as you take progressive steps to climb to the summit. Trek through various landscapes and enjoy the spectacular sight from the summit of Mgoun in this 4-day trek!
Itinerary

Day 1: Marrakech to Ait Bouguemez (1800m) to Ikkis Arous (2300 m)
Leave Marrakech early by a minibus to join the valley of Aït Bouguemez, the “Happy Valley” (after 4h30 drive).
Have lunch and make your way towards Azilal, crossing the Oughbar’s pass (2200m), with a panoramic sight on the relief mountains of Tizal-Azourki-M’goun and Rat.
Take a long descent on a sinuous road towards the valley of Ait Abbes, after which return to the valley of Ait Bouguemez.
Leave the rich valley of Ait Bouguemez to the small valley, Arous. Going through the village Ait Said, the path rises towards the sheepfold Azib’n Ikkis at 2300 m.
Dinner and overnight in the bivouac.

Day 2: Ikkis Arous (2200 m) to Tarkeddit (2900m)
Slowly climb towards the pass Tarkedit (3400m) via easy muleteer’s paths.
Take a break to enjoy the magical sight from the summit of Mgoun (4068 m).
Take a short descent towards the plateau of Tarkeddit, frequented by Nomads.
Dinner and overnight in the bivouac.

Day 3: Tarkeddit (2900 m) to M’Goun (4068 m) to Arous (2300m)
Leave early for a long day, following a path that will take you to the top.
Take the route through the varied ground, with masses of fallen rocks, pebbles, to become a normal path again, with one stop at the end of the way.
Take a small break before attacking the crest, a path that becomes easy once you have reached the summit.
Take your noon picnic and start the most spectacular part of the trek.
Descend on a mass of fallen rocks, joining the springs of the valley of Ifri.
Find the herds of Transhumant’s as well as observe nomads’ life.
Camp near the source of Oulilim.
Dinner and overnight in the bivouac.

Coming down: 2350m

Day 4: Arous to Ait Bougmez & Departure
Relax after crossing the pass at 3300m and descend into the valley of Arous.
Grab lunch, and then follow the waters of the wadi, through the villages, until you arrive at the Valley.
Return to Marrakech.
