- The guide will pick up you from your hotel or can meet near Kaunas Castle, where the tour begins.
Commence with a walking tour of Kaunas Old Town. During this tour, you will learn about Kaunas Castle, Franciscan Monasteries, Town Hall, St. Peter and St. Paul Cathedral, Thunder house, the longest bridge in the world and much more.
The second stop will be at Pazaislis Monastery or Rumsiskes Open-Air Museum. In Pazaislis, you would visit the beautiful monastery, built in baroque style; please note that the Monastery is not open on all days of the week and your visit may depend on that.
The next stop is Rumsiskes Open-Air Museum, located 22 km outside Kaunas. Here, you will learn about Lithuanian lifestyle in the 19th century and early decades of the 20th century. You will see how Lithuanian peasants used to live before, and you will hear many stories about their traditions.
Stop to have lunch in Rumsiskes and try traditional Lithuanian dishes.
The last stop will be Kaunas IX Fort Museum, located just outside Kaunas and tells Lithuanian history from the early 20th century, including its darkest period, the Holocaust.
