Description
Stroll down the cobblestoned pathways of Vilnius, the capital city of Lithuania. The medieval old town is mostly known for its baroque architecture and several other styles from the 16th century BCE and before. On this tour, you will see the Gate of Dawn, the Palace near Gediminas’ Tower and the Cathedral, and explore other lesser-frequented gems such as the Jewish quarters and the Churches of St. Anne and St. Francis of Assisi (Bernardine).

Highlights of Old Town Vilnius
Meet your tour guide at an agreed-upon location to begin your walking tour of Vilnius.
Follow the route of the Grand Duke and make your way to the Palace near Gediminas’ Tower. As you make your way around the town, your guide will regale you with historical overviews, facts about contemporary realities and some other curiosities, such as the name of the church which served as the Museum of Atheism in the Soviet Era.
Visit the grand Cathedral of Vilnius. The church is the heart of Catholic spiritual life in Lithuania.
- Visit the Ausros Vartu or the Gates of Dawn, one of the most important historical, cultural and religious monuments in Vilnius, on account of being the only surviving gates of the walls that once surrounded the town.
- Make your way down Didzioji Street and Pilies Street, where your guide will point important sites out to you.
- Explore the Jewish quarter of Vilnius and learn about its history.
- Marvel at the grandeur of the Presidential Palace and Vilnius University.
- Visit the two famous churches of Vilnius: the St. Ann Church and the St. Francis of Assisi (Bernardine) Church.
