Itinerary

1. Day 1: Sigiriya

   • Explore Sigiriya and the famous cultural triangle of Sri Lanka. This rocky outcrop is prominent in tourists worldwide for its enigmatic architectural and engineering skills that baffle even modern-day architects. UNESCO World Heritage Site Sigiriya, built by King Kashyapa 1, is like an impenetrable fortress and extravagant abode and is one of the most visited sites in Sri Lanka.

   • Go through Lion’s gate to the summit, marvel at the colourful murals and remnants, and take in all the breathtaking views.

2. Day 2: Dambulla - Kandy

   • Leave for Kandy via Dambulla with your Sri Lankan tour guide after breakfast. 

   • Visit the Golden Rock cave temple which dates back to the 1st century BCE. 

   • Stop at a spice garden on the way to Kandy. 

   • Go for an evening city tour of Kandy. Besides being home to the much-venerated temple in Asia and dazzling sunsets by the lake; Kandy is of great importance to history as the last capital of Sri Lanka. 

   • Explore the white-clad temple that enshrines the sacred tooth relic of Lord Buddha or appreciate flora and fauna at Udawattakele Forest Reserve. Alternately a conversation with a local family while indulging in a homemade meal would be a perfect conclusion for your stay in Kandy. This sacred city offers the perfect amalgamation of tradition, vibrant cultures and present-day festivities; justifying your stay during any time of the year.

3. Day 3: Kandy - Galle

   • Pay your respects at the most renowned temple of “Dalada Maligawa” -Temple of Tooth. Here, the tooth of Lord Buddha is reserved, and it attracts thousands of visitors, including devotees around the world. The city has the most extensive botanical garden in Sri Lanka,  known as the Peradeniya Botanical Garden.

4. Day 4: Galle - Bentota

   • Proceed to Galle with your Sri Lankan tour guide. 

   • Tread the rambling streets of this ancient fortress built by the Dutch in the 1600s; served as an exotic port-of-call to the Europeans, Indians, Javanese, and Arabs over the years. Named a UNESCO World Heritage Site, this quirky city is a mix of eccentric and bohemian allure, complemented by Dutch-colonial architecture. Its believed that it is the most significant remaining Fort in Asia, built by the European colonists. Today the city attracts many travellers with its impressive landmarks such as the National Maritime Museum, International Stadium, All Saint’s Church, Lighthouse and the grass-clad walls of the Fort itself.

5. Day 5: Colombo - Airport

   • Travel to Colombo and delve into the rich history and contemporary living of the commercial capital of Sri Lanka and uncover the seamless cultural blend within the city. 

   • Shop at the pettah market and grasp the true essence of Sri Lankan street life and commence your explorations at the traditional bazaar. Colombo's explosion of colour and quirkiness often fascinates its explorers. Despite attracting an increasing number of foreign investors, this vibrant metropolis has retained its appeal and identity over the years. Indulge in some retail therapy or traverse the streets marvelling at the historical monuments and colonial architecture. 

   • Appease your taste buds by dining at a street food stall or an eccentric fine-dining restaurant.
