Charyn Canyon is comprised of sedimentary rocks that are about 12 million years old. The height of the canyon walls can reach up to 300 meters.

The most interesting tourist site is the Valley of Castles. A winding 2-km path through the bottom of the canyon leads you past picturesque rocks, red cliffs, and mountains.
