Elephant Encounters: The David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust Experience
- You will be picked up from your hotel at 10:00 hrs. Only 25 minutes away from the city centre is The David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, one of the most successful orphan elephant rescue and rehabilitation programs in the world. The Trust was founded in 1977 in memory of David Sheldrick, a founding Warden of Tsavo East National Park. Among other roles, it rescues orphaned and wounded baby elephants and rehabilitates them before reintroducing them to their natural habitat.
- The elephants in their care are fed each day at 11 a.m. The feeding is done in the public, during which a warden will narrate the story of each calf. This is an unparalleled experience as you get up close and candid with the world's biggest land mammals. It is further an opportunity to learn how man’s activities affect nature and how you can make a difference.
- Later, transfer back to your hotel or airport.
