Itinerary

1. Day 1: Pick up from Kigali and transfer to Volcanoes national park

   • On the first leg of your hiking safari, you will be pick up by our drive guide at 4:00 am, who will brief you about the safari and then embark on the road, which is about 3 hours, by 7:00 am.
   • You will be at Kinigi Guest Information Center in Volcanoes National Park. 
   • You will be assigned a ranger and then depart for the hike. Karisimbi is the tallest volcano among the Virunga massif volcanoes, and while you hike, expect to cruise through beautiful and breathtaking views of the other volcanoes, for example, Nyiragongo and Nyamuragira. 
   • To attain the greater height, you must be very fit physically, and when you reach an altitude of 3,700m, you will connect to the camp where you will have dinner and spend an overnight.

2. Day 2: Hike to the Summit, descend and departure

   • Arise on an early breakfast at around 5am and depart for the hike, where you will arrive at the summit in an hour’s time, and you will be cruising through thick forests and scenic views, including Mountain Muhabura. 
   • After you have enjoyed the summit and you have taken so many pictures and videos, you will descend back to the starting point where your driver guide will waiting to receive you and take you for lunch and thereafter, you will hit the road back to Kigali either at the airport or to the hotel and thus marking the end of your hiking safari.
