Description
Go on a 9-day trek from Dana to Petra in Jordan. Start your hike from Dana Bio Reserve to the plains of Wadi Feynan and continue through the wilderness to the splendours of the new world-wonder, the city of Petra, and finish in Amman, the lowest point on earth. Spend the nights in Bedouin-style campsites, have local meals and visit the famous archaeological sites of Petra.
Itinerary

Day 1: Amman Airport- Madaba
- Arrive at Amman International Airport and meet with the tour guide.
- Drive to Madaba for dinner and overnight stay at a 3-star hotel.

Day 2: Madaba- Mount Nebo- Dana
- Have breakfast at the hotel, meet with the tour guide and drive to the Church of St. George to view the oldest preserved ancient mosaic map of the Holy Land dating back to the 6th century BC.
- Continue to Mt. Nebo and retrace the steps of Moses and admire the spectacular view of the Promised Land just as he did over 2,000 years ago. You can also spot Jerusalem, Jericho and the Dead Sea on a clear day.
- Check out the memorial in Moses’ honour at the early Byzantine Christian church entrance where Moses is believed to have died.
- Continue to one of Jordan’s loveliest hideaways and its most impressive ecotourism project- the 15th century stone village of Dana. Perched high on a cliff, this charming community offers spectacular views of Wadi Araba.
- Stroll through the terraced gardens and admire the fine craftsmanship of the local art scene. Dana is known for its handcrafted silver jewelry, dried fruit, olive oil soap, and leather tanning.

Day 3: Dana- Feynan
- Have breakfast, meet with the tour guide and begin the trek from Dana Nature Reserve, one of Jordan's loveliest conservation and wilderness areas, to Feynan Canyon. This spectacular downhill trek winds through the sandstone gorge of Wadi Dana.
- Encounter the local Bedouin herding their sheep and goats along the way.
- Have a packed lunch during the trek.
- Arrive at Feynan Canyon, drink refreshing Bedouin tea and set up tents for the night.
Dinner and overnight stay at the mobile camp.
Trekking duration: 7-8 hours; 18 km.

Day 4: Feynan- Barwas
- Have breakfast at the camp, then start trekking through the stony desert with spectacular views of the high mountain ranges to the east and the vast Wadi Araba desert to the west.
- Halt for lunch along the way.
- Head further towards the foot of the mountains to arrive in Barwas.
Dinner and overnight stay at the mobile camp.
Trekking duration: 4- 5 hours; 12 km; Altitude: Mostly level

Day 5: Barwas- Ras El Feid
- Have breakfast and set off, leaving the stony "Hamada" desert behind.
- Continue the trek and walk around the foot of the mountain to reach the trailhead of an ancient Bedouin migration path that ascends steeply across rocks and small boulders through a twisty track rising high into the mountain. This section can be challenging and takes around 3 hours. The route offers stunning views westwards towards the fascinating Wadi Araba desert.
- Reach the top of a high saddle, which has some of the most beautiful scenery of the trek, before descending following a small goat track to the river valley of Wadi Feid. Refresh yourself in the cool water of this area, and have lunch.
- Continue the trek, walking upstream and manoeuvring around a beautiful dense garden of oleander, willow, tamarisk and reed.
- Beyond this, walk along a dry river bed surrounded by colourful sandstone outcrops to reach the camping spot where you can taste Bedouin tea and meal and rest.

Trekking duration: 7- 8 hours; 15 km; Altitude: 700m (2300 ft) ascent, 250m (820 ft) descent

Day 6: Ras El Feid- Shkaret Msei'd
- Have an early morning breakfast, then continue with the trek by retracing the path along the riverbed, gradually climbing up the hills following the ancient migration paths to uncover some of the most spectacular sceneries in Jordan. This part of the route is quite challenging and includes some scrambling to overcome larger obstacles.
- Trek along the trail through the Wadi floor, which gently climbs up into the pale-coloured sandstone distinctive hill that offers incredible views across the surrounding landscapes of mountains and canyons.
- Have lunch there before continuing with the trek again with a descent, followed by a gentle uphill climb to reach a bare rock slab perfectly located to spend another magical night in the wild where we set up camp and enjoy the peaceful haven of the mountains scenery around us.

Trekking duration: 7- 8 hours; 21 km; Altitude: 170m (560 feet) ascent, 150m (490 feet) descent, 300m (985 feet) ascent

Day 7: Shkaret Msei'd- Little Petra
- Wake up early in the morning and continue with the trek with some dramatic changes of scenery, from the deep Wadis to the wonderful wide-open sandstone hills.
- Stop for lunch then continue to the beautiful nature-crafted white dome of Beidha, and descend into Little Petra and visit this fabulous site for a little taste of the magnificence of Petra, which you will encounter the next day.
- Take a short walk to reach the campsite, which is surrounded by amazing sandstone mountains.
Dinner and overnight stay at 7 Wonders Bedouin Camp.
Trekking duration: 7- 8 hours; 17 km; Altitude: 150m (500 feet) ascent, 250m (800 feet) descent

Day 8: Little Petra- Petra
- Wake up early and enter Petra in a way that very few visitors have- through the secret entrance to the Monastery.
- Start the trek on a trail that initially winds across open farmland. For the first two hours of the trek, the path contours around the mountain ridge with fantastic views of the Wadi Araba desert.
- Then the climb starts as the narrow route, open to sheer drop-offs, leads to perhaps Petra's most awe-inspiring monument, the Monastery.
- Walk down the well-worn Nabataean steps into the heart of Petra, and visit the Facades Street, Urn Tomb, the Theatre, Colonnaded Street, Royal Tombs and Qasr al Bent before having lunch near the amphitheatre.
- Exit Petra via the Dark Siq (a secondary Siq) to visit the High Place of Sacrifice before re-entering the site through the main Siq, so you get to experience the most famous view of Petra, ‘Al Khaznah’ or ‘The Treasury’ as though you are entering for the first time.
- Enjoy the unparalleled beauty of Al Khaznah, then exit Petra and head to the campsite.
Dinner and overnight stay at 7 Wonders Bedouin Camp.
Trekking duration: 5- 6 hours to the Treasury in addition to 3- 4 hours for sightseeing; 16 km; Altitude: 110m (360 ft) ascent, 100m (330 ft) descent, 100m (330ft) ascent.

Day 9: Petra- Amman Airport
- Have breakfast at the camp, then travel back to Amman.
- Arrive at Amman and transfer to the airport for your flight back home.
