Jump on this 2-days trek from Tafilah and explore the hanging gardens, narrow gorges and hot springs of Wadi al-Hasa. Hike through the gorgeous Canyon and witness the changing scenery here on the valley's lower course, where the wadi cuts a spectacular canyon in red sandstone.

Itinerary

Day 1- Tafilah - Wadi al-Hasa
- Meet at Amman, and then drive for 3 hours to the start point.
- Begin your trekking with the water stream.
- Head to Wadi Al-Hasa and marvel at its natural beauty.
Camp in the canyon for overnight.
Day 2- Hiking into the Canyon
- Start the hike the rest distance to the end of the Canyon.
- Meet the bus and drive back to Amman.
End of services.

Know Before You Go

Wadi Hasa sports magnificent hanging gardens, narrow gorges and hot springs. Its upper reaches are carved into white limestone, creating a playground of giant boulders. A dramatic change of scenery is displayed along its lower course, where the wadi cuts a spectacular canyon in red sandstone.

The drainage basin of Wadi Hasa extends over 3,200 sq. km, far bigger than most of the wadis in Moab or Edom and second only to Wadi Mujib. Its discharge is about 20 million cubic m per year, and the temperature of its hottest spring is about 54 C. A rare tropical tree (Dalbergia sissoo) that grows in its bed, is not known elsewhere in Jordan.

Wadi Hasa is identified with the biblical Zered River, the traditional border between Moab and Edom. It is depicted on the mosaic map of Madaba.
