Itinerary
-
Explore the Sicilian city of Syracuse
Meet your guide at the Eurialo Castle and start the tour. This castle's construction was ordered by Dionysius the Elder and was built on the most vulnerable part of the Epipole area. Representing the most important fortification of Syracuse until the Roman siege, it is a beautiful representation of Greek architecture. The complex defence structures of the castle will be the starting point of our tour.
Proceed to the Neapolis Archaeological Park to visit the Greek theatre, the Greek stone-quarries, the altar of Hieron II and the Roman Amphitheater while your Sicily tour guide and archaeologist explains to you their historical importance.
Visit the island of Ortygia that houses exceptional Greek, Roman and Late Antiquity monuments.
Explore the Greek Temples of Apollo, the Cathedral/Temple of Athena and the Swabian Maniace Castle among other fascinating sites.
That will conclude your tour.
