Head to a highly-rated winery in the Cerasuolo DOCG area (territory of Ragusa), the starting point of our itinerary.
Discover the roads surrounded by gnarly, century-old olive and carob trees, which provide shelter from the midday sun to cattle and sheep. The scenic drive is enhanced by the most striking feature of the landscape in the Iblean countryside: dry-stone walls created by farming peasants with an innate sense of artistry.
Arrive at the winery and get introduced to the indigenous grape varietals as we walk through the cellar guided by the expert winemaker. Sample their best wines accompanied by a great light lunch.
Have the chance to discover what Sicily's most famous grape varietal (Nero d'Avola) tastes like when it's blended with Frappato!
Enjoy our visit to a farm where an extraordinary variety of olive oil is produced.
Taste the exquisite D.O.P Iblean olive oil, accompanied by homemade bread and a selection of local cheeses and salami. After various acknowledgements in national and international competitions, this olive oil is considered one of the best in the world because of its organic, rich in polyphenols with very low peroxides and acidity.
With the producer's help, learn when and how a variety of oil is considered extra virgin. By simply comparing different qualities, we will determine which olive oils meet the criteria to carry the "extra virgin" designation and those with negative tastes - that professionals refer to as defects.
