This tragedy was terrible, maybe the worst one of the ancient times. These cities were forgotten from history because the Vesuvius eruption buried them. That's why their ruins exist today. You can see where the Romans ate, slept, loved, enjoyed, prayed and died. - Then you take the train to reach Herculaneum and stop to visit the ruins.
