Reggio Calabria the Pearl of the Strait, an enchanting promenade throughout centuries
- 10.00 A.M- Start the visit at the Archaeological Museum of Reggio Calabria, starting from the ground floor with the Riace Bronzes.
- Then, we move on to the last Paleolithic floor for an excursion of the human presence in the Region.
- 11.30 A.M. begins the walk along the seafront, the most beautiful kilometre in Italy.
- Description of the place, of the myths related to it, of the physical phenomena (Fata Morgana) and their interpretation in antiquity of the botanical species present: at the end of the walk , you can admire the remains of the Greek walls.
- 12.30 we head towards the Cathedral of Palermo with a visit also to the interior, visit to the Chapel of the Blessed Sacrament, the story of the celebrations that take place in various periods of the year with reference to the devotion of the Madonna della Consolazione, also celebrated in Paternò.
- 1.15 pm Lunch break in Piazza Duomo, where there are seats where you can sit freely and also numerous places of different nature.
- There are restaurants such as the "Mamma Mia" which, often having school groups, offers a 10 euro menu with a drink and pizza (you can choose between: pizza margherita with sausage or with potatoes or with cooked ham or plain) and a 15 euro menu consisting of a drink/appetizer/pizza or drink/appetizer and pasta (must be confirmed a week before).
- At 2.15 pm, we go up to see the Church of the Ottimati, an example of Byzantine art in Calabria and, from the outside, the Aragonese castle. We go back down towards Corso Garibaldi to see the Teatro Cilea and other Liberty-era buildings from the outside, and we reach Via della.
- Giudecca.
- 2.45/3.00 pm meeting with Professor Simona Lanzoni, Coordinator of the Heritage Community "Scalinata Monumentale di Via Giudecca " to meet some owners of the historic shops of the street in question, historically home to the Jewish community of Reggio Calabria.
- Food session at "Pietra Cappa" local store.
- 4.00/4.30 pm end of the tour.
