Siena & San Gimignano Highlights & Wine Tour from Florence
09.00 am: Departure from Florence or its vicinity.
10.15 am: Through the beautiful Tuscan countryside, approaching Siena, admire the beautiful Florentine hills. We will guide you through the Chianti wine area. Then go up the hills of Chianti and arrive in Siena. Visit Piazza del Campo (Field Square) and see the Cathedral (we recommend you to climb), the Baptistery and the Torre del Mangia or the Bell-tower.
12.30 am: Departure from Siena to Chianti wine region, Monteriggioni. Until the XI century Monteriggioni was a station of standstill on the Francigena Road in Tuscany. Siena transformed Monteriggioni in the imposing Fortress to the protection of the boundary north in the wars against the enemy Florence. We suggest you walk on the defensive walls and admire the Chianti.
01.00 pm: Arrival at San Gimignano area and a stop for typical Tuscany lunch and wine tasting at an organic wine farm in Chianti (Vernaccia white Wine, Chianti Classico, Chianti Riserva, Brunello from Montalcino, Supertuscan, Extra Virgin Olive oil, Truffle oil, Vinsanto with Cantuccini).
After lunch and wine tasting, driving along the Tuscany hills, where you can see the different types of vineyards and olive groves and arrive in San Gimignano.
02.00 pm: Visit San Gimignano (the unique medieval city of towers). The town of San Gimignano, also known for its beautifully preserved medieval towers. 14 left out of 72 initially built in the 13th century. We suggest you climb the Torre Grossa (Bigger Tower) and taste the best Gelato in the world at Antica Gelateria di Piazza.
03.30 pm: We go back to Florence, where the tour will end by 05:00 pm, but only after making a stop at Piazzale Michelangelo for a panoramic view of Florence.
