Description
It's a fascinating experience for gourmets looking to get the most out of a three-hour walk. Venice speaks through its cuisine, which originated in the city's heart, in the streets of the Rialto Mercato. It's a market that thrives with the aromas of fresh veggies from the island of Sant Erasmo and strikes the imagination with various crustaceans, molluscs, and fish of all kinds from the waters of the lagoon. We will head there first, starting the trip with an authentic experience crossing the Grand Canal on the gondola ferry to reach the fish market. After the market visit, we will enjoy local specialties and pillars of Venetian cuisine. These can be found near the market and at the distance of a 15 min walk on the dam just across from the scenic gondola service station. Over the 3-hour walk, you will learn about the origin of Venetian cuisine, its modern variant, current tendencies and influences, typical local dishes, their origin, and what's tramezzini, Cicchetti, ombra de vin, bacaro. You'll also learn about the culture of socializing and Venetian-style aperitif. Get some tips on the local wine made of authentic grape varieties, records of osterie, bacari and wine cantine. Hear incredible stories and mysteries related to the city and the local cuisine.
