Itinerary
-
Day in Rome
- Meet your tour guide and begin just outside the Colosseum, where your guide can introduce you to the area as you make your way to the entrance. Once inside, you will be awestruck by the vast size of this ancient stadium where gladiators fought and died for the Roman spectators. As you visit the main floor level and get a view from the spectator seating level, your guide will describe all of the games and events in the Colosseum.
- Head to the oldest part of Rome when you begin your climb up to Palatine Hill. The site of the huts of Romulus (the first king and founder of Rome) is also the site of the home of first Emperor Augustus. While atop the Palatine Hill, you will walk through the palaces where emperors lived and even sneak peeked at the famous Circus Maximus below where the chariot races were held.
- After getting your fill of empirical grandeur, you will follow your guide down the hill into the Roman Forum. This is where the Roman people and senators went about their daily life. Home to temples, government offices, the senate-house and even the library, you will see the structures that made the Roman Empire famous as well as prosperous.
- You will even walk in the footsteps of emperors and plebs alike as your guide takes you down the original stones of the Via Sacra, or Sacred Road, into the forum.
- The entire experience ends with you having the chance to ask questions to your guide and get any advice you need for the rest of your stay in Rome. With small groups of no more than 12 people, you are guaranteed to make a connection that will last a lifetime.
