Description
Are you looking for the ultimate adrenaline rush in Vatnajökull National Park? Look no further than this half-day canyoning adventure with Ice Guardians. We are the only operators of canyoning adventure experiences in Iceland! This half-day trip is perfect on a sunny day, but it is also thrilling even on rainy days, we are getting wet anyway! You can truly embrace the elements by jumping and sliding in and abseiling down the waterfalls and blue pools beneath the Vatnajökull Ice Cap.
Itinerary

Meeting Point
- Meet at the Haukafell Campground, and look for your guides (they will be near the hut dressed in yellow/gold uniforms or in wetsuits)
- We will review any medical conditions you have and your experience with rappelling, canyoning etc.
- We will then provide you with neoprene wetsuit/s and boots according to the sizes you provided in the booking process.
- Once fitted, you will receive neoprene gloves (optional), a helmet and a harness.
- We will begin hiking through a forest from the campground, stop along the way for an 'Intro to Rappelling' class and practice technique and body positioning on a small rock face.

Descending the Canyon
- We will begin with a safety briefing of hand signals, how we will take photos, and fit the wetsuits ready to submerse ourselves in the river water.
- We will have a series of rappels down waterfalls, jump and slide back towards the car park over the next ~3 hours (group size dependent, min. 2, max. 6)
- In between we will walk in and out of the river amongst beautiful igneous rock formations as well as dazzling blue pools and greenery on the cliff tops, before seeing the river plains below us towards the town of Höfn.
- We will be able to take photos throughout the tour. When we're back at the car park, you will get changed, and prepare you a hot drink to warm up. It is always nice to have a chat about the tour and your trip to Iceland afterwards.
