Hello, I am Ivar. I work as a mountain and glacier guide in Iceland and have done so more or less since 2002.I guide any type of mountain activity. In the winter it is ice climbing, spring is ski-touring time and then trekking and hiking in the summer.I also teach mountaineering and climbing courses for the Icelandic alpine club and the Icelandic Mountain Guides and train guides to work on glaciers and in mountains for the Icelandic Mountain Guide, the guides school and for the Association of Icelandic Mountain Guides (AIMG).I have guided multiple ski-touring trips in Tröllaskaginn in the north, several ski trips on Hvannadalshnúkur (Iceland's highest summit) and over 50 non-skiing accents of the same mountain as well as other ski-touring trips.I have also guided on hard ice-climbs in Iceland and some alpine routes.I frequently guide on glacier walks and other simpler day tours.I have guided on countless backpacking and trekking trips in various parts of Iceland and Greenland as well as some smaller Nordic ski expeditions – like crossing the Vatnajökull Ice Cap.Other guiding highlights include Elbrus, Mt.Blanc, Mt.Vinson (Antarctica) and Kilimanjaro.I have completed a Canadian Avalanche Association Level I course for professionals (8 days) and a Wilderness First Aid course (8 days). Lead guide for Icelandic Mountain Guides for 5 years.I am a founding member of the AIMG and serve on the technical committee there and have completed the full training offered by them for Glacier- and Mountain guiding as well as being on the first team to go through the ski-guide training.I have a solid background from rock climbing (sport and trad) and rank as one of the more experienced ice-climbers in Iceland although currently, my favorite mountain hobbies are more focused on the downhill, skiing and mountain biking.
