Itinerary
-
See the best that Iceland has to offer
Depart early from the capital city of Reykjavík to the southeast part of Iceland, along the beautiful southern shoreline to the magical glacial lagoon, Jökulsárlón (1.5-hour stop at the lagoon).
On the way, pass by some small, charming villages as well as the Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss waterfalls, and Skaftafell national park (a 30-minutes stop at the national park), which is dominated by Vatnajökull, Europe´s largest ice cap with the highest peak of the island, Hvannadalshnjúkur (2111m).
From Skaftafell, continue the tour to Jökulsárlón glacial lagoon. See amazing blocks of ice that have broken off of Europe’s biggest glacier, Vatnajökull. These blocks of ice are drifting slowly towards the ocean, which is not far away.
Visitors can also take a boat tour on the lagoon during the summertime.
After the visit to the lagoon, head back to Reykjavík.
