Itinerary
-
Day 1: Arrive Ahvaz / Explore Shushtar
Take the early morning flight that brings you to Ahvaz and avail a pick-up from the airport.
After breakfast, you will make a short visit to Ahvaz and Karoon River with your Iranian tour guide.
Drive to Haft-Tappeh (excavation site consisting of dozens of hills) and Tchogha-Zanbil (a ziggurat of the Elamite domination era).
In the afternoon, you can tour Shushtar’s historical watermills. Eat lunch in the traditional Mostofi Museum and Restaurant.
Stay for the night in Shushtar.
-
Day 2: Shimbar / Join Nomads
Drive to Negin Bridge and Shimbar Waterfall in the morning. Have lunch in a local home which is the last point you would have electricity.
In case you have more free time, you will visit Dezpart Steps.
In the afternoon, go on a 3/4-hour hike to reach the Nomad’s black tent in Mt. Zagros. In a starry sky, relish a hot meal & cosy tent to camp in to gather your strength for the next day, the day of Kuch (Migration).
-
Day 3 & 4: An Expedition to Nomad Land
Take in the spectacular view of the flock wandering around the surrounding green pastures. Today is the day of Migration: A Great Day for the Nomads. For 3 days, you accompany them in their epic migration in the Zagros mountain ranges. During these 3 days, go on an overall 42 km of hiking. Flexibility is a keyword since there is no fixed plan due to the Nomad͛s’ flexible routine. While moving behind the flock in Zagros mountainous regions, don’t forget to savour the scenic beauty of the area – a view you never forget. You will be surrounded by imposing mountains or oak trees with the sound of a sheep’s bell in your ears. Take photos and soak up the view.
In the afternoon, when the Nomads stop moving & set up the black tent, you have plenty of quiet to enjoy the spectacular surroundings.
At night, a cool night’s sleep under the starry sky in the lower mountain temperatures would be pretty enjoyable. You never forget the authentic nomadic lifestyle you experience while doing Kuch.
-
Day 5: An Expedition to Nomad Land
Say goodbye to the Nomads to continue on your expedition to an amazing green village called Khouye. After 3 days of migration with the nomads, a comfortable, cosy village house would be a perfect lodge.
Here, you are rewarded with vast fruit gardens and wonderful old village houses. You will also have a fabulous view of the surrounding mountains from the village.
Stay in the village for the night.
-
Day 6: Depart Nomads / Back to Civilization
Go through the village after breakfast.
Bid farewell to your host family and go to an amazing historical stepped village, Sar Agha Seyyed Village. Here, you have the chance to appreciate the views of the old village houses where the yard of one is the roof of the other. Zagros has always been the highest and hardest part of each nomadic migration. For more than thousands of years, Nomads have stopped in this village on their way to summer or winter pastures.
Hike for 15 minutes and visit a salt mine near the village.
Continue on the road to Chelgerd, where you will stay in a hotel.
Proceed to Koohrang Spring which is the next incredible destination. It is the biggest spring in Iran, which passengers rarely visit due to the exposed nature of the place & the rough road.
For the night, you will get back to the hotel.
-
Day 7: Return to Isfahan
Reward yourself with the stunning views of Dimeh Spring & the plain of Koohrang’s reversed tulips.
Go to Shahr-e Kord and Isfahan.
