Description

Embark on a tour to Kolkata and travel to Sajnekhali Watch Tower to spot tigers. Visit a nearby village to interact with the villagers and learn about their lifestyles. Cruise through the tiger reserve to stop by Sudhannyakhali and Dobanki watchtowers before exploring the Gosaba market, Hamilton Bungalow and Beacon Bungalow.

Itinerary

Day 1: Kolkata
- Start at 7 am from Kolkata and reach Gadkhali by 11 am with breakfast on the way.
- Board the motorboat and head straight for Sajnekhali Watch Tower which will take 2 hrs to reach.
- Have lunch on the boat.
- Visit Mangrove interpretation centre & Watch Tower (many tigers have been sighted from here in the past).
- Explore the buffer forest by boat for bird watching or visit a nearby village to experience the livelihood of the villagers.
- Meet people like honey collectors, fishermen and also survivors of tiger attacks. It is very interesting to know about the livelihood of these people, which is very different from ours.
- Options of a country boat ride and fishing in the local pond are also available in accordance with personal preferences.
- Spend the night on the motorboat. This is a unique and fun experience.
Dinner will be served on the boat.
Day 2: Tiger Reserve
- Start at sunrise from Sajnekhali and obtain full day permission to visit the Tiger reserve.
- Have breakfast on the boat.
- Cruise through creeks and rivers in the core tourism areas of the Reserve all day and have lunch on the boat.
- Visit at least two watchtowers, Sudhannyakhali & Dobanki.
Dinner & stay on the boat if team size is below ten, or in a standard resort at our cost on a sharing basis.
Arrangements can be made for some local folk music performances in the evening.
Day 3: Gosaba
- Start at sunrise and cruise through the buffer forest.
- Visit Gosaba, the biggest and most important local market for Sundarbans, Hamilton’s bungalow, and another bungalow (Beacon Bungalow) where the great Indian poet Rabindranath Tagore once stayed.
- Have lunch and board the car at Gadkhali to head back to Kolkata.

Food:

The best efforts are to treat the guests with exceptional food and fruits that are a staple to Sundarban areas to add flavour & essence to the tour and make it memorable in all possible ways. The food served will be a mix of Vegetarian and Non-Vegetarian Indian Cuisine. Full Vegetarian meals can be provided if the information is shared at booking. Food served is everyday home style and non-spicy so that your stay and safaris can happen in good health. All food is prepared in packaged drinking water & the best quality mediums are used to maintain health and hygiene. The guide would be glad to know your preferences and serve accordingly. Extra Food and Snacks can be available at cost, subject to availability. Drinking water is Packaged Bottled drinking water that comes in 20-litre jars.

Accommodation:

The above 1N2D and 2N3D packages are all Boat stay arrangements. You may view the arrangement in the “Our Boats” section and get an idea of the same. It is very neatly maintained to provide comfort and maintain hygiene. The Boat has two western-style toilets, which are sterilized daily and neatly maintained at all times to meet your basic needs.

Teams will be put up at resorts located on the fringes of Tiger reserve far from the crowd to maintain solidarity if the team size exceeds 10. non-AC accommodations will be provided on a sharing basis; however, exclusive rooms can be equipped at an added cost. If you choose to stay on the Boat, you get a discount.

Transit: All by AC vehicles to and from Kolkata.

The Boat has accommodation facilities for up to ten tourists and all basic amenities. However, if the team size is more than ten, the guide shall shift everyone to a good quality resort with no additional cost.

If the tour gets cancelled as a result of any natural calamities like floods, cyclones etc. or due to political or sociological disturbances like bandh, curfew etc., which is beyond the control of Dream Safari, no refund will be given. However, Dream Safari will try its best to reschedule the tour in some alternate mutually agreed dates.

Special note: Itinerary is subject to change/alteration as the visit to the various watchtowers depends upon weather, tide conditions & Forest department permissions available at that point in time. However, all watchtowers and destinations mentioned in the itinerary will be covered.

Sundarban is non-plastic zone, so please do not carry any. Throwing anything, even spitting in the water or the park areas while on the Boat, will attract a fine of up to Rs.20,000/ - and immediate cancellation of the tour. A separate detailed list of Do’s and Don’ts will be shared at the time of booking and has to be adhered to by every member.

For weekend tours of 1N2D & 2N3D, a minimum headcount has to be 8, less than which might lead to cancellation and full refund. However, cancellation is a rare occasion, as the tour operators hate to disappoint you.

The operators also customize tours as per special requirements.

The team’s goal is to maintain transparency and take care of you continuously while you are with them.
