Old & New Delhi Highlights
- Meet your tour guide at a pre-decided location in the morning and proceed on your sightseeing tour.
- Visit the Lal Quila or Red Fort, built by Emperor Shah Jahan in the 17th century. It remained the political centre of Mughal India till 1857 and continues to attract thousands of tourists worldwide.
- Make your way to Raj Ghat, the cremation site of Mahatma Gandhi.
- Admire Jama Masjid, India's largest mosque, built by Shah Jahan in 1656.
- Explore Chandni Chowk by rickshaw as you explore old havelis, learn about the historical events that the place has seen, and reach wonderfully laid out shops and bazaars for some souvenir shopping.
- After lunch, visit the breathtaking Humayun's Tomb that houses the mortal remains of the second Mughal emperor. The tomb is an example of early Mughal architecture in Delhi with its rose-petal sandstone memorial, octagonal shape, double domes and high arches.
- Visit the Laxmi Narayan Temple and admire its many shrines, fountains and gardens.
- See the India Gate, constructed in memory of the 90,000 soldiers of the British-Indian army who fought in the Second World War.
- Marvel at Rashtrapati Bhavan or the President's House, the official residence of the President of India, before returning to your hotel.
