Sindbad is a name that has evoked different emotions and memories in the minds of people throughout history. The legendary character of Sindbad, the sailor of the seven seas, as a courageous, fearless and skilled traveler is told to children worldwide. In Jerusalem, the name Sindbad is also associated with travel, but from a slightly different perspective: tourism and pilgrimages, aspects of the main industries of the Holy Land. Sindbad Travel Agency was established in 1957, back when Jerusalem was an undiscovered jewel.Tourism in the region was still in development, yet the owners and directors of Sindbad had a vision, a calling, a ministry. This brought to those less fortunate to live in the Holy Land the legacy of the place where Jesus lived and taught. In time, we have created a portal to ancient history and archaeology.
In the years that followed, despite the wars, occupation and hardships, Sindbad remained a pillar standing in the face of adversity.God’s blessings along with the support of family and friends ensured that Sindbad Travel remained viable and strong. We believe that Sindbad is more than just a travel agency. It is an establishment that offers spirituality, love and blessings regardless of one's religious views and beliefs. Our purpose is to use the history of the region and its local people - the Living Stones of the Holy Land - to embody the various aspects of the Holy Land.Sindbad is also a family-run business; the Abdalla family is devoted to carrying Sindbad's mission and further its span.
Our classic Christian pilgrimages to the traditional Biblical sites have been our ministry and our calling since the initiation of Sindbad Travel.Although we highly value what has perhaps made us who we are as a company and family, we are constantly striving for that which is new and different. In the past decade or so, we have been venturing into discovering new approaches to tourism, new approaches to visiting this holy land. This is ultimately a way for reaching more people. This is looking into the other facets that the Holy Land has to offer. This is asserting that the Middle East is not just about the three monotheistic religions. This is also about exploring the vastness and richness that are intrinsic to this region and its people.Eventually, this approach primarily involves paving the way for an interactive form of tourism where the travelers or visitors can not only design their own trips, but also have an intimate experience with the region and its people.
So far, we have had great success and received amazing feedback from the groups or individuals to whom we gave the opportunity to decide over every aspect of their trip.We have tailor-made trips for colleges and universities. We have arranged their home-stays, their entire course program, their classes and internships. We have even helped with students’ individual needs and travels. For other students and academics, we have arranged workshops which included guest speakers, meeting with politicians and public figures for lectures and discussions. We have had groups of archeology and history students who had the opportunity to dig and study on their own in ancient undiscovered sites.
At this point, we are open to and welcome all ideas. The possibilities are endless and we are willing to execute them. Please contact us about any innovative idea; we would love to hear from you.
