Itinerary
-
Day 1 : Mount of Olives to the Garden Tomb
Begin the day with a panoramic view from the Mount of Olives, overlooking the old city's walls and the ancient Jewish cemetery.
Visit the Church of All Nations, once called “The Basilica of the Agony”, and see the Garden of Gethsemane.
Proceed to Mount Zion to see the tomb of King David and the nearby Room of the Last Supper.
Enter the Old City to begin exploring the wondrous city of Jerusalem. Walk through the Roman Cardo, one of two main streets. View the Temple Mount and the Western Wall (Wailing Wall), where Jews from around the world turn their eyes to; believers can leave notes and prayers in the cracks between the wall’s stones.
Stroll along the Via Dolorosa (Latin: ‘way of sorrow’), the traditional pilgrimage route in Jerusalem commemorating Jesus’ journey carrying the cross (Mark 15:20-23) Golgotha.
Continue to the Holy Sepulchre's Church, the holiest Christian site in Jerusalem and Israel, the place of Jesus Christ’s burial and resurrection.
Walk through the Arab bazaar “Suk”, which is interesting and full of colour. Optional to end the day by visiting the Garden Tomb.
-
Day 2 : Israel Museum to Bethlehem
Next, visit the Israel Museum - Israel’s finest and most extensive museum. See the new Holy Land model – a small-scale representation of Jerusalem during the second temple period.
See the book's Shrine, whose famous roof is shaped like the ceramic jar covers in which the Dead Sea scrolls were first discovered.
Continue to Yad Vashem (“Hand and Name” from Isaiah 56:5), Israel’s official memorial and museum dedicated to the victims of the Holocaust. Enter the site by walking along the Path of the Righteous Gentiles. This path is dedicated to the non-Jews that risked their lives to save their Jewish friends and neighbours.
Travel on to Ein Karem and visit a Spanish style church that commemorates John the Baptist's birthplace.
See Mary’s well, where Mother Mary met her cousin Elizabeth.
Proceed to Bethlehem, the birthplace of Jesus Christ, and visit the Church of the Nativity.
