Itinerary

1. Day 1: Dempo Mount

   • Meet your local tour guide in Palembang for pick-up and transfer.

   • Drive for 8 hours to Southern Sumatra.

   • Visit the only mountain in the province - Dempo Mount with your Indonesian tour guide. It is home to the legacy-rich Besémah pre-historic culture represented by the many megalithic statues.

   • See several waterfalls and hot springs plus a village with rattan-craft-making home industries. This is also a city that is proud of its one-of-a-kind cuisine and its best-served hot-and-creamy black tea.

2. Day 2: Sembilang National Park

   • Take a speed boat ride for 5 hours to the national park.

   • Go to the Eastern part of South Sumatra, facing the Bangka Strait, a protected area of peat-swamped forest that shelters Sumatran tigers, crocodiles, and temporarily migrating avian species from Madagascar.

   • Observe how, every afternoon, groups of wild boars visit the only village to lavishly dine on what the fishermen have left for them as well as the cats and dogs. These boars are safe from being preyed upon due to the local culture forbidding swine consumption.

3. Day 3: Serelo Hill

   • Admire this uniquely shaped hill surrounded by a protected forest, home to the Sumatran tigers.

4. Day 4: Meet a local tribe

   • Meet Sumatra’s only indigenous tribe - Suku Anak Dalam (Inner-Forest People), who share an almost similar background with the Balinese people.
