Itinerary

1. Day 1: Berau & Maratua Island

   • Arrive at Berau Airpot and transfer to Berau Port with a driver. From here, avail public or chartered transport to reach Maratua Island in around 2.5 hours.
   • Get abroad on a boat and sail through the river to the Celebes Sea for around 1.5 hours.
   • Arrive and check into the Borneo Lodge and relax awhile. 
   • Enjoy gorgeous sunset views in the evening, followed by dinner and briefing by your diving guide.
   • Revel at a free party and then retreat for a good night's sleep.

2. Day 2: Gusung Pal, Turtle Traffic & South Face Dive Point

   • After Breakfast, get ready with your equipment and settle down on the dive boat. 
   • Attend a briefing with your diving guide and go through the final checks for your diving gear. 
   • Go for the first dive at 09.00 AM at Gusung Pal, a diving spot only a few minutes from the Dive Center.

   • The second dive will allow you to see a number of turtles lying on the coral slopes underwater.

   • Return to the lodge for lunch.

   • Depart at 1:30 PM for the third dive of the day and explore the southern part of Maratua Reef.

   • Return to the lodge. Enjoy coffee and attend a briefing with the divemaster for the next day's diving spot and technical dive.

   • Have dinner and enjoy a relaxing overnight stay.

3. Day 3: Treasure Point, Mid Reef, Hanging Garden & Fusilier Paradise Diving Spot

   • Have breakfast, and then double-check your diving gear & all related equipment. 
   • After a briefing with the diving guide, go for the first deep dive (30-40 meters) of the day near Maratua Reef house to watch the Thresher Shark in action.
   • Take an hour-long break to relax.

   • After the break, go for a second dive around Mid Reef for a unique experience of watching barracudas, colourful corals, and diverse marine life.

   • Return to the lodge for lunch.

   • Later, go for a third and fourth dive in Fusilier Paradise & Hanging Garden, one of the best diving spots. Here, you will get to see sponge coral, colourful nudibranchs and much more.

   • Return to the lodge. Have a cup of coffee, enjoy the sunset, and then join the divemaster, who will once again brief you for the next day's dive.

   • Enjoy dinner and retreat for an overnight stay.

4. Day 4: Kakaban, Manta Avenue & Manta Run Dive Spot

   • After breakfast, get ready for a diving trip to the second-best spot in this area, known as the Barracuda Point in Kakaban. If lucky, you might also spot hammerhead sharks, great whites, blacktip shark, and a whole school of barracuda during your dive.

   • After the end of this diving session, go past the great reef to see the beautiful reef, colourful fish, and great table coral under the shallow water. Enjoy lunch en-route to Jellyfish Lake.

   • Go snorkelling in the Jellyfish Lake of Kakaban, which is home to 4 different species of jellyfish.

   • Afterwards, continue to Sangalaki Island for another challenging diving spot. Upon arrival, explore the pristine beaches and find some baby turtles in the conservation area.

   • Continue exploring underwater life at Sangalaki as you dive in again at Manta Parade and enjoy spotting the Giant Manta Rays.

   • In the afternoon, return to Maratua Lodge and watch out for dolphins on your way back to the lodge.

   • Later in the evening, enjoy the sunset and have dinner at the lodge—retreat for an overnight stay.

5. Day 5: Departure

   • After completing all formalities, depart from the resort and transfer to the airport as per the flight schedule for your onward journey.
