I live in Rantepao the capital of Toraja where I was born. The area is situated high up in the mountains around the middle of Sulawesi and I have been a guide here for more than twenty years.I enjoy helping people discover my wonderful area and have also worked with anthropologists and foreign embassies.Like most people here we farm the land and grow mainly rice, but also coffee, tea, coco and vanilla. All the crops for which Sulawesi has become so well known.During the summer months a lot of tourists come to Sulawesi and also to Toraja. This is the time that I, just like most of my colleagues, work as a guide.Every summer is yet another exercise to try and be able to explain the things we show them in more detail. With years of experience being a recognised guide for the government, my own knowledge about the Island grew bigger as well as my Dutch. It is such a wonderful job to be able to share my knowledge about this land, its culture and fascinated region with you.
I would like to invite you to prepare a journey through Sulawesi. Either myself or one of my colleagues would be delighted to show you the unforgettable sites of our Island at the times you require them.I would like to offer you a warm welcome to TANA TORAJA, the land of discoveries and hospitable people.Safety and comfort and an unforgettable holiday are our top priorities. As a trained and government licensed guide, I would like to share with you my knowledge of the land, the culture and the people of this fascinated area.May I welcome you?
