Shop at the famous Dolac open market, located in Gornji Grad - Medveščak city district of Zagreb. Dolac is the most visited and the best-known farmer's market in Zagreb, well known for its combination of a traditional open market with stalls and a sheltered market below. Visit the "Mirogoj" graveyard as an open museum, exploring the city parks or have a nice walk alongside Jarun lake or Sava river in the evening (optional).
Itinerary
-
Explore the city
Begin at the Jelacic square, in front of the Horseman statue. Zagreb is divided into three parts, and the square is the newly built part of the city. This lower Town has the main square, Ban Jelačić, plus shops, museums and parks.
Visit the Upper town and the Croatian Parliament building, home of the Croatian administration.
Explore the Stone Gate, the eastern gate to medieval Gradec Town, now a shrine. According to legend, a great fire 1731 destroyed every part of the wooden gate except for the Virgin and Child painting (by an unknown 17th-century artist). On the Stone Gate's western facade, see a statue of Dora, the hero of an 18th-century historical novel, who lived with her father next to the Stone Gate.
The tour ends with a return to the main square.
