Still, one must also be prepared to expect that this trip is much more than merely visiting an exquisite landscape. It is a pilgrimage to a holy place for all Christians worldwide. Meteora has become a preservation ark for the 2000-year-old Christian Orthodox creed.

Day Trip from Corfu to Meteora
- Departure from Corfu at 07:30.
- Arrive at Igoumenitsa port at 09:15 and drive to Kalambaka.
- Arrive at Kalambaka at 11:45. Free time to rest for 30 minutes.
- Drive up to Meteora rocks. Photo stops on the way. First visit to Agios Stefanos monastery (30 minutes). It is the most accessible monastery, where instead of steps, there is a small bridge to cross. It is ideal for visitors with low mobility.
- Our second visit to the Holy Monastery of Great Meteoro (1 hr). It is the biggest of the monasteries in Meteora and the oldest. To enter the monastery, you need to climb about 160 steps carved into the rock. The monastery was founded in the middle of the 14th century.
- Later you will have free time in Kalambaka for lunch.
- Departure from Kalambaka at 15:30.
Remark: Once per week, the monasteries are closed on different days. In that case, we might visit a different monastery.
Alternative itinerary: Visit one monastery in Meteora and instead of lunch in Kalambaka, visit and lunch in Metsovo town on Pindos mountains nearby the highway.
