Description

Sign up for this tour to explore the alpine scenery of Greece with visits to Prionia Station (1,100 m) and Spilios Agapitos Mountain Refuge (2,100 m). Hike on the magnificent summit to the very top of Mt Olympus (Mitikas 2, 918 m) to view the Mediterranean Sea. Then, trek towards Petostruga and enjoy the views of Musses Plateau here.

Itinerary

Day 1: Litochoro Town – Spilios Agapitos 2,.100m
- Meet at Litochoro town (noon, Central Square) and do a briefing about the ascent.
- Move towards the trailhead (Prionia Station 1,100 m) via the forest road.
- Hike through a pleasant forest trail towards Spilios Agapitos Mountain Refuge (2,100 m). During the hike, the guide will brief about the fauna, flora, history and mythology of Mt Olympus.
- Access the refuge and settle down for a briefing about the next day's schedule. Overnight stay will be here.
Duration: 3 - 4 hours
Vertical ascent: 1,000 m
Day 2: Mitikas 2.918m – Musses Plateau
- Eat breakfast at the hut (07:00) and have a short briefing about the day's schedule.
- Departure at 08:00 towards the Summits and hike the magnificent summits to the very top of Mt Olympus (Mitikas 2, 918 m) to enjoy the stunning views of the Mediterranean Sea. The last section to the summit involves easy climbing, and guests are roped in by the Mountain Guide (harness – helmet).
- Settle down at a Mountain Refuge for dinner and an overnight stay.
Duration: 6 hours (summit included)
Day 3: Musses Plateau – Petrostruga
- Depart at 08:00 towards the north side trail after breakfast.
- Access Petrostruga Hut and stop for a short break before continuing downhill through a hike towards the car parking.
- Enjoy views of Musses Plateau here.
- Drive back to Litochoro town.
Duration: 5 hours.

Terms and conditions

The Mountain Guide is in charge of the ascent and has the right to change the schedule or a part of it – always in cooperation with his guests – in case of bad weather conditions, setting a priority on the safety of his team members.

He has the right to change the daily route/s or a part of them in case of a sudden team member's illness.

He has the right to interrupt or stop the schedule if a team member does not comply with the safety rules of the Mountain Guide or his actions put the rest of the team members in danger.

Participants have to respect the mountain's natural environment.

The terms above do not set the Mountain Guide liability to refund his reward or a part of it.

The schedule above takes place in a mountain and alpine environment.

Hikes/climbs are up 3 - 6 hours, and a good level of health is necessary.

Also, the average level of physical condition is needed.

Mountain Guide is not responsible for an accident out of his responsibility or because of a participant's ignorance – mistake.

Personal equipment required

Hiking backpack 25 - 30 lit volume, sneakers or hiking boots, long trousers & short one - warm pullover, beanie & light gloves, second pair of underwear, rain jacket, second pair of socks, water 1 ½ litre & snacks to eat, personal equipment for hut overnight stay, small torch, sunglasses, and sun hat.
