Itinerary

1. Archaeological Site of Ancient Aptera

   • Learn about the ancient city of Aptera. After an exciting drive up, our first stop will be the ‘’Ancient site of Ap-tera’’ and ‘’fortress of Koules’’. Explore the Roman cisterns, the monastery, the picturesque church, and the beautiful ancient theatre that remains. At the archaeological site of Aptera, you will be able to admire findings of all periods of inhabitation of this City-State. The ancient city's walls, which are 3,480 meters long, date back to its period, the 4th century BC. Afterwards, we have time to take magnificent photos of the view of Souda Bay from the Fortress of Koules. The view from there is breathtaking. 

   Time spent there is about 1 hour 30 minutes.

2. Old Venetian Harbor

   • Minoan neighbourhoods, Ottoman bathhouses, Hellenistic walls, Latin inscriptions, a church with the symbols of two religions, boot-makers shops, imposing Venetian bastions, knife-makers shops, underground cisterns, a Venetian harbour and an African village are just a part of the multicultural mosaic of the town’s past and its architectural treasures.

3. Chania Old Town

   • Immerse yourself in an engaging historical tour at Chania Old Town, where five millennia of history and prehistory will unfold. We will visit streets, buildings, high spots, neighbourhoods, and monuments that only we, locals, know. 
   • We will walk together on the stone paths where the Venetians, the Ottomans, and the old Cretans used to live and work. We will admire the incredible flower-decorated neighbourhoods, learn about Cretan history, mythology, and traditions, meet the locals, and eat like locals.
