Santorini Volcano Tour
- Start from the picturesque old port of Fira. Gialos, the Old Port, lies below Fira, nestled at the foot of a rocky cliff. You will be surprised by the steep slopes of the Caldera, and in the end, the tiny port will appear under these huge rocks and the cave houses that seem to dangle on the cliff. There the guides of your excursion will be waiting for you to give you all the important information and to orientate you on the boat.
- Our first destination will be the famous volcano of Santorini! After 20 minutes of sailing, we will reach Nea Kameni. If you are interested in being guided at the volcano, you will walk to the volcano’s ridge with your guide, and you will listen to everything about the history and the geology of the volcano. You will stay on the volcanic island for 1.5 hours.
- Next, we reach by boat the island of Palea Kameni, with the hot springs and the famous mud baths, which were formed as a result of volcanic eruptions.
- In the small bay of Agios Nikolaos, the water temperature ranges from 30 to 35 degrees Celsius as it mixes continuously with the normal sea currents. The waters are mixed with mud that they are full of sulfur, iron and other metals coming from the volcano, and they are very good for the skin, rheumatism, arthritis and other physical pains.
- Important Note: In order to reach Agios Nikolaos beach, it is essential that you swim extremely well.
- The boat will be staying here for about 30 minutes to allow you a healthy bath. After the bath, you will return to the old port of Fira.
