Participate in the Cretan traditional cooking lessons hosted in your guide's home. A small, traditional village close to the town of Rethimno, where they have been cooking for many years. Learn the family secrets of Cretan cuisine on this tour.

Itinerary

Rethimno Cooking Tour
- Enter the garden where your Rethimno guide cultivates organic vegetables and fruits. They even produce their olive oil.
- Collect the seasonal greens, herbs, fruits, wild greens, fresh milk, fresh meat and, of course, the gold of Cretan land, the olive oil.
- Prepare dishes with the ingredients using recipes that have been passed down through generations. The menu can be modified for vegetarian guests.

Cooking Lesson:

Aperitif (Cretan welcome)

Raki or Greek Coffee (Raki is a famous local drink)

Cheese pies (Small pies with homemade cheese and honey (kalitsounia)

During the lesson:

Kremidokalitsouna: Small pies with onions

Chortopites: Small pies with many (10-12) different wild greens

Sfakianes Pies: Pies with homemade cheese. Sfakia speciality (You will prepare it together)

Appetizer:

Homemade cheese with fresh milk from sheep and goats (will prepare it together)

Tzatziki: Strained yoghurt, cucumber, garlic and olive oil (will prepare it together)

Greek salad with homemade barley rusk, tomatoes, cucumber, green pepper, onion, caper, kritamo, olives and enough olive oil.

Pepper stuffed with feta, homemade cheese, and kefalotiri baked in the wood oven

Dolmadakia: Stuffed vine leaves, and zucchini flowers with rice, vegetables, herbs and olive oil (will prepare it together)

Keftedakia: Fried meatballs (will prepare them together)

Main Dishes:

Moussaka: The famous Greek dish (potatoes, zucchini, aubergines, minced meat in tomatoes sauce, and béchamel) in the wood oven (will prepare it together)

Giouvetsi: Rooster with orzo in the wood oven (traditional Sunday dish)

All these are accompanied by plenty of homemade wine
