Slave Castles of Elmina and Cape Coast
- After breakfast, depart for a scenic drive to the Central Region of Ghana, the breathtaking home of Cape Coast and Elmina castles. As you leave the hustle and bustle of Accra for the slower, more laid-back pace of the lush Central Region, you will notice the backdrop transform before your eyes.
- Upon arrival at your hotel, check in and settle into your ocean view suite. After lunch, prepare to visit two of the most infamous slave castles in Ghana. The first, Cape Coast Castle, built in 1653 by Sweden and later taken over by the British, is also home to the West African Historical Museum. The second, Elmina Castle, was built by the Portuguese in 1482 and was formerly known as St. George's Castle.
- After a long day, return to your hotel to relax and prepare for a romantic candlelight dinner by the beach. At dinner, choose from a variety of delicious dishes, ranging from freshly caught seafood to traditional Ghanaian cuisine.
-
Canopy Walk in Kakum National Park

After a breakfast, check-out and depart to explore Kakum National Park, one of West Africa’s surviving tropical rain forests. Kakum consists of over 360sq km of diverse and dense vegetation, and is a blend of true rainforest and semi deciduous forest. Kakum is home to over 40 large mammals, 400 bird types and many species of butterflies, flora and fauna.
- The most popular attraction, however, is the canopy walkway. Made up of seven bridges extending 330m, the walkway hangs 40m above the forest floor. You will have the choice to traverse the walkway or enjoy a 2km nature walk through the forest to discover the wide variety of exotic floral species and the medicinal values they offer. After your day hike, you can opt to enjoy lunch or a light snack at the Kakum Rainforest Café. Return to your hotel for an evening of relaxation, dinner and overnight.
